CALPULLI YOUTH DANCE IN QUEENS AND NOW STATEN ISLAND
The award-winning program serving children and adolescents expands to serve communities near Snug Harbor Cultural Center.
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company is proud to announce the continuation and expansion of its youth dance program continuing in Astoria, Queens and now in Staten Island. The program is in its fourth year of operations and has served hundreds of children and adolescents with dance training and culturally-enriching classes based on Mexican traditions. The program will continue based on voluntary donations.
“It has been a long-time goal of Calpulli to bring its program to more communities in New York City. For many years, the growing Mexican community in Staten Island approached us about this, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Snug Harbor Cultural Center to make the program a reality,” says Juan Castaño, co-founder and Manager Director of Calpulli.
Classes focus on regional dances from Mexico along with lessons in history, movement fundamentals, esteem building, and team work. Families of all backgrounds are invited to this unique arts experience made up of fun, movement and learning.
“We are very excited to include Calpulli Mexican Dance Company as part of the cultural programming offered at Snug Harbor. We welcome Mexican and Mexican-American families!” says Susan Lewis, Business Manager of the Cultural Center.
