  • A conversation with the CEO of BANSEFI

Rabindranath Salazar, Director General of Bansefi, Mexico’s National Bank for Savings and Financial Services, provided an extensive and critical outlook of Mexico’s Government initiatives for development, technical assistance and strengthening of savings & loans, and financial cooperatives and institutions serving underbanked sectors. In addition, Salazar spoke about the role of Bansefi as a platform to direct economic resources to beneficiaries of Government social programs. Guests and members had the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss Mexico’s Programs to promote financial inclusion and eliminate barriers to basic financial services, particularly in rural areas and lower income population segments.

  • Mexico's Perspectives for the Infrastructure and Energy Sectors

The United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Chapter organized a conference to discuss and analyze the plans of Mexico’s new administration with the Energy and Infrastructure sectors, both pillars to any country’s economy. Our keynote speaker, Gilberto García Vázquez, Director General of Foreign Investment from Mexico's Ministry of Economy, provided an in-depth analysis of Mexico’s priorities for both sectors and focused on five strategic projects for AMLO’s term.

Our panel discussion included industry experts and leaders from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Von Wobeser y Sierra, MUFG, Credit Agricole CIB, and Winston & Strawn. The event was hosted at the offices of our Member Winston & Strawn LLP and was attended by 100 members and guests.

  • Mexican Pension Fund System: Reform & Modifications to its Regulatory and Operational Framework

The United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Chapter invited Abraham Vela Dib, President of the National Pensions Regulatory and Supervisory Agency of Mexico (CONSAR) to discuss Mexico's New Government Administration legislative proposal to reform and modify the pension funds systems. Throughout the event, members were able to engage in a meaningful conversation with Mr. Vela and analyze topics such as the new operating model for the current AFOREs, withdrawal of voluntary deposits and managers' performance fees.

  • Cinco de Mayo Annual Corporate Luncheon

Every year our members gather at our traditional Cinco de Mayo Annual Luncheon to celebrate among colleagues and friends. Hosted by the acclaimed Mexican restaurant Cosme, our guests enjoyed the finest Mexican Cuisine and traditional drinks. This year our guests of honor, the Consul General of Mexico in NYC and a representative from the NYC Major’s Office joined our celebration as we remembered an important moment of Mexico’s history. We deeply appreciate the support of our Members and Sponsors that have made this event one of the most popular Cinco de Mayo celebrations within the business community and we hope to see you there next year!

  • Spring Networking Reception 2019

With the upcoming Season, The Northeast Chapter of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with MexPro (Red Global MX, NY/NJ Chapter), hosted its traditional networking event for all the young professionals in New York City. This season the event took place at AKA Central Park lounge where our 100 guests enjoyed of a fun evening as they created connections with fellow Mexicans and expanded their business network in New York City.

  • A Conversation with the Governor of the State of Oaxaca

The U.S. – Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Chapter invited Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, Governor of the State of Oaxaca to engage our members in a dynamic conversation of Oaxaca’s major challenges and Investment opportunities. Throughout the event, our members gained firsthand insight on topics such as Oaxaca’s infrastructure projects, agricultural industry, renewable energy, among others.

  • Regional Advisory Board Meeting & Welcoming Reception for the New Consul General of Mexico in New York

Our Regional Advisory Board and Management Committee had their first meeting of the year at the offices of our Member Duane Morris LLP; they reviewed the upcoming plans for our Chapter and its current status. Following the meeting we had a welcoming reception for the new Consul General of Mexico in New York, Jorge Islas Lopez. Our Members and guests had the opportunity to talk with the Consul and learn more about his initiatives and commitment in strengthening the bilateral relationship. Consul Islas holds a Law Degree from the UNAM, a Master of Law from Columbia University and a PhD in Law from the UNAM.

This event, hosted by Guardian Life, was perfect for those interested in buying a property in New York. We had a panel of experts who gave our attendees insight into how to succeed in the challenging process of buying or investing in real estate. Among other things, our speakers agreed in saying that given the current real estate market condition, now is a good time to buy a property in New York.

  • 7th Mexico PE Day - AMEXCAP

AMEXCAP had its 7th Mexico PE Day at the Marriott Marquis in New York City and they invited us to collaborate as supporting organization. As every year the conference was a huge success covering topics like real estate, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, international economic panorama, among others. The day before the conference AMEXCAP held a networking cocktail reception at Elsie Rooftop to welcome all the attendees coming from Mexico. We are looking forward to collaborating with them next year.

  • Pemex: A Market View on its Current Situation & Implications on Mexico’s Sovereign Risk

Our Regional Member BBVA hosted an event about the current situation of Pemex and how it will impact Mexico´s sovereign risk. Tim Goodell, BBVA´s Head of Institutional Investors Sales, lead our experts into a very interesting panel discussion: Lucas Aristizabal – Senior Director, Latin America Corporate Ratings, Fitch Ratings, Fernando Valle – Senior Analyst for Oil & Gas, Bloomberg Intelligence and Fernando Posadas – Latin America Analyst, Medley Global Advisors. The event was attended by 40 Members and guest that had the opportunity to clarify all their doubts and inquiries about the Mexican institution.
