It is an honor and privilege to be elected as President of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce Northeast Chapter. I humbly accept this mandate as a responsibility to work hard, together with our great Board and Staff, to continue to build the bridges that strengthen the relationship between Mexico and the United States.
Our countries relationship is deeply enrooted and goes beyond trade and business ties; it includes cultural, historical, and familiar ties, as well as important differences and disagreements. As any relationship, it has had its highs and lows, but it has always been stronger when it has centered on the idea of building a partnership based on the principles of mutual respect, dialogue, and empathy.
We are currently living in unprecedented and challenging times where our time-tested relationship is being defied. Now more than ever it is important to emphasize our commitment to foster that partnership between the two countries; we must work even harder, with more trust, respect and faith in our common future, the one that General David Petraeus has defined as “the North American Decade”.
The US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce Northeast Chapter has been for many years, and will continue to be, committed to strengthen the bridges that have been built between our two countries, as partners and good neighbors. Our vision is one of a united North American region with a common vision to face the challenges of a global economy. The Northeast Chapter serves as a unique forum to share cross-cultural experiences and foundations of people and companies doing business in both countries.
I would like to express my gratitude to our members for their confidence, commitment and collaboration to our organization. Our current membership, together with our Board and Staff, constitute the major asset of the Chapter. I encourage our members to take a more active role in the Chapter and continue promoting business between Mexico and the United States. To our non-members, I invite you to know more about our organization and the benefits we offer, and to become a member in the near future.
