On Monday May 5th the USMCOC-NE organized its
traditional Cinco de Mayo Luncheon at the 3 West
Club in Midtown Manhattan. We were pleased to have
Ambassador Ruben Beltran, Consul General of Mexico
in New York, Ambassador Claude Heller, Permanent
Representative of Mexico to the U.N., as well as
Lorraine Cortez, Secretary of the State of New York
and Terry D. Jackson, Managing Director of the
Division of International Business at the Office of
the Mayor. It was great to see many familiar faces
that have found in the Chamber not only a great
platform for business development, but also for
networking and friendship relations. We were also
happy to have several new people in our celebration.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Chamber held
its Annual Mexico’s Real Estate Investment Forum at
the Waldorf Astoria. The event included four
specialized panels that covered topics such as the
investment climate, real estate performance and
forecast by asset type, public registries and title
insurance in Mexico, real estate appraisal and
valuation, current status and future of Mexican
REITS, and Mexico’s mortgage and other debt
structured products in housing and commercial real
estate. The expert speakers, which included Mexican
government officials, the Mexican Stock Exchange,
lawyers, and high level executives from private
equity funds, REITS, title insurance companies,
rating agencies and financial institutions,
presented and exchanged information and ideas on
Mexico’s real estate market which resulted in very
enriching panel sessions. This conference was indeed
a great opportunity to hear from the experts their
perspective of Mexico’s real estate market in times
of a US economic slowdown
