Dear members and friends of the Chamber,
It has been a very busy first year as the President of the Northeast Chapter of the United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce. As we commence a new year, we look back at our accomplishments and into the future to take into our hands the destiny of our business relationships in the unprecedented times that we are currently experiencing.
I am proud to share with you a brief update on the successes that we have achieved as we continue to build a more resilient relationship between Mexico and the United States. In 2018 we had a total of 22 events, with approximately 2,000 attendees and around 80 great speakers. We had a broad range of interesting topics related to the political, financial, social, and business matters between our two countries. From topics about NAFTA (now USMCA), the Mexican presidential elections, energy, pharma, real estate, fashion, tourism, and gender equality, among others, to our social events celebrating the Mexican culture with delicious Mexican food and a good margarita. Our membership keeps growing and is stronger than ever. We had an excellent year.
Looking ahead into 2019, we are looking to add new members to our Management Committee and our Regional Advisory Board. I encourage those of you who are interested in taking a more active role within the Chamber to join us in the Management Committee or Regional Advisory Board. Joining us is a unique opportunity to make a difference in our communities and our businesses.
All our work was done with one main goal in our mind: to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and new business opportunities among our members as we look into fostering the partnership between our two countries. I want to specially thank our remarkable Executive Director, Alejandro Ramos, and our wonderful Trade Representative, Elba Rangel. Please join me in congratulating them for the outstanding work they have done this past year for the benefit of all our Members.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to continue building a solid and productive Chamber for you.
Rosa M. Ertze, President
