Dear Members,
During the last months, I have witnessed with great
satisfaction that the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of
Commerce, Northeast Chapter, has experienced an
exceptional process of transformation and
consolidation as a leading organization in the
Mexican-American business community.
Top level officials and personalities of the
business, economic and political sectors have shared
their visions and thoughts with the members of the
Chamber, through the conferences, seminars and
roundtables we have organized. We have had the
opportunity to listen and discuss with current and
former government officials such as Francisco Gil
Diaz and Alonso Garcia, respectively, Secretary and
Undersecretary of Finance of Mexico; Fernando
Canales, Minister of Economy of Mexico; Mario Budebo,
President of the Commission for the Retirement
Savings System of Mexico; Thomas “Mack” McLarty,
former White House Chief of Staff; Carlos de Icaza,
Ambassador of Mexico to the United States; Federico
Patiño, Deputy General Director of Nacional
Financiera and Alejandro Werner, Director of
Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, among
others. The private sector has also been constantly
present in the agenda of the conferences organized
by the Chamber; Guillermo Prieto, President of the
Mexican Stock Exchange and Emilio Azcarraga Jean,
CEO of Grupo Televisa are some examples of the
successful business personalities that have
participated as keynote speakers in our events.
Nowadays, the Chamber is becoming the primary forum
in New York for public and private sector
representatives to present and discuss issues and
topics related to the U.S.-Mexico business and
economic relationships. We are very proud to share
with you that we are not only inviting, but
receiving requests from the government, business,
political and academic circles to organize different
events that allow them to expose and share their
projects, visions and ideas.
The consolidation process of the Chamber has not
been an easy task; it has required great effort and
hard work from the bodies and personnel that
constitute our Chamber. Our very active and
committed Management Committee has been a key source
of guidance, development and support to the
Chamber’s projects and initiatives. Our professional
and talented staff -Maria Fernandez (Executive
Director) and Alejandro Ramos (Trade Representative)
- have also demonstrated outstanding creativity,
energy and enthusiasm in the management and
operation of the Chamber.
Last but not least, certainly the most important
factor for the Chamber’s achievements has been the
constant and enthusiastic participation of our
members in all of our events and initiatives. Our
mission could not be accomplished without your
support and patronage. In response to the
gratefulness we owe to our members, I would like to
reiterate the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce,
Northeast Chapter, commitment to continue working
for your benefit and for the success on the business
relationships between our countries. At the same
time, I invite you to not only maintain but increase
your participation in order to continue building a
rewarding organization that could become an
instrument of change and empowerment to the
relationships among our countries.
Sincerely
Eduardo Ramos-Gómez
President
