A Conversation with Javier Guzmán, Vice Governor of Mexico's Central Bank

As we do every year, Javier Guzmán, vice governor of Banco de México, updated our members on Mexico’s monetary policy and the economic outlook, for both Mexico and the USA, for the next couple of years. On this edition the vice governor had a roundtable meeting with our Members in Washington, D.C. at the offices of Morrison & Foerster and a conference hosted by HSBC in their New York City offices with 90 Members and guests from the tri-state area.

September 15, 2019 - El Grito NYC 2019

On Saturday September 15th, we celebrated Mexico´s Independence Day at the PHD Rooftop at the Dream Hotel in Downtown Manhattan. We received around 400 guests that yelled “¡Viva México!” alongside the Consul General of Mexico in New York, Jorge Islas, during the “El Grito” ceremony, followed by Mariachis.

September 18, 2019. Building Partnerships in the Wealth Management Industry for Foreign Investors

As part of our Membership benefits, we put together a meeting for our members that are in the Wealth Management Industry. The purpose of the meeting was to help them broaden their network within the industry and develop new business opportunities. The meeting was attended by financial advisors, wealth managers, investors, commercial bankers, lawyers, real estate developers and brokers, and PR agencies. By the end of the night we had a small networking cocktail, we want to thank our Sponsor and New Member, Mezcal Koch El, for their support during this event.

September 26, 2019 - Engaged Forum 2019

As our President mentioned on her letter in this newsletter, as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month, we held the third edition of our Engaged Forum, this year it was attended by 80 members and guests and hosted by our Regional Member HSBC at their Park Avenue offices.

We had as keynote speaker Secretary Graciela Márquez Colin from Mexico´s Ministry of Economy, the secretary addressed the programs that this government is implementing to help women beat the gender wage gap and to be successful entrepreneurs without having to move their businesses to other countries. We also had the participation of OPIC, AB InBev, UPS, Kichink, Luminary, Two Goats Inc, R.Evolución Latina, PwC, Lilu Inc, Yoshida Consulting, and Eight Sleep.

We want to thank the support of Women Entrepreneurs of NYC, an initiative based out of the New York City Department of Small Business Services, dedicated to helping women start and grow their own businesses.
