On September 20th, the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of
Commerce, Northeast Chapter (USMCOC-NE), was honored
with the presence of H.E. Vicente Fox, President
of Mexico. As part of his last official business
trip to New York, President Fox met with more than
200 business leaders and members of the Chamber. In
his message to the Chamber’s members, President Fox
stressed that Mexicans have been able to build
strategies for prosperity, through which they have
been promoting the integration of businesspeople
from Mexico, Canada and the United States. Certainly,
the participation of President Fox in this event
organized by the Northeast Chapter represented an
unparalleled distinction to the positioning of the
USMCOC-NE as a leading organization in New York City
for the discussion, promotion and strengthening of
the business relations between Mexico and the United
States.
During the last months, the USMCOC-NE held several
seminars, conferences and networking business
receptions that were attended by more than one
thousand individuals, which had the opportunity to
meet government officials, top level executives and
business partners. Among the events organized by the
USMCOC-NE during the last months, it was a
conference with Carlos Garcia Moreno, Chief
Executive Officer of America Movil; a conference
with Guillermo Güemez, Deputy Governor of
Mexico’s Central Bank; and a Seminar on Real
Estate Investments in Mexico with John McCarthy,
Director General of Fonatur and Guillermo
Babatz, President of Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal
as keynote speakers. The USMCOC-NE also held a
Seminar on the Economic Perspectives for Mexico
After the Presidential Election, conducted by
chief economists and analysts of the most important
global investment banks and rating agencies and a
seminar on the legal framework for Mexican taxes,
realty and foreign investment.
Likewise, on September 15th, the USMCOC-NE held its
Annual Gala to celebrate Mexico’s Independence
Day. The Consul General of Mexico in New York, Amb.
Ramón Xilótl Ramírez, conducted the traditional
ceremony of the Grito. The celebration gathered
around 400 people that enjoyed a dinner offered by
the best Mexican restaurants in New York City.
Earlier this year, at the beginning of May during
the traditional Cinco de Mayo Luncheon, the
USMCOC-NE was recognized through a Citation issued
by George E. Pataki, Governor of the State of New
York. This Citation recognized and congratulated
the Chamber for its role in business development and
as an effective business liaison between the
business communities of Mexico and the State of New
York. The Chamber proudly received this distinction
confirming its commitment to continue building
bridges of development and cooperation between our
two countries.
